Hazardous materials in the workplace such as chlorine, methane, acids and gases may endanger your life or health. Spills or leaks of these materials must be taken seriously. Hazardous materials at home may include pesticides, cleaners, gasoline and paint thinner. It is important to understand your responsibilities and knowing how to react in a safe manner. This program is about how to react to a spill and not letting it get out of hand with emphasis is on safety.

Topics covered in this safety video include: procedures to control spills and emergencies, review your company's emergency plan, emergency plan, properly use the equipment and know what equipment can and can't protect you for certain types of chemicals, what type of respirators or respirator cartridges protect you from what type of chemicals, properly use respirators and how to test them for proper seals, get away, identify what you saw, get help, seal off the area and alert others, look for injuries, identify the hazards, prepare a plan of action, get proper equipment and materials, contain the spill and, clean up the spill, and material safety data sheet (MSDS).
